I work alongside over 275 postdocs at FIU, focusing on building connections that enhance professional and social networking opportunities. I'm dedicated to providing valuable resources for career development, including networking events, career advice, and engaging social activities. As a team, we strive to create an inclusive environment that supports the growth and success of all postdocs!

As a POSTDOCket Editor and Writer for the National Postdoctoral Association, I have the exciting opportunity to contribute to the quarterly issues of "The POSTDOCket," which serves our vibrant postdoctoral community. In this volunteer role, I compose and edit engaging content while collaborating with other committees and staff to suggest relevant topics for development. My responsibilities include connecting them with faculty and providing support on various institutional and research-related questions. I’m dedicated to empowering Voceros in their advocacy efforts, ensuring their perspectives are integrated into institutional decision-making. Together, we’re committed to transforming educational systems and enhancing student agency, making a meaningful difference in our community!

As a mentor in the Científico Latino Graduate School Mentorship Initiative (GSMI) program, I support graduate school applicants from underrepresented backgrounds in their STEM journeys. I provide personalized, one-on-one guidance, sharing insights from my own research and career experiences to help them navigate the challenges they face. I’m here to offer advice on academic and professional development, celebrate their achievements, and empower them to reach their full potential. Together, we’re working to inspire the next generation of scientists and ensure they have the tools and confidence to succeed in STEM!

As a mentor for Científico Latino's Graduate School Engagement and Community (GSEC) program, I guide first-year graduate students from diverse backgrounds as they embark on their exciting journey in graduate school. In this role, I support small mentorship groups, offering advice on professional development and helping students connect with the GSEC community. By sharing my experiences and resources with these students, I aim to empower my mentees to build confidence and successfully navigate the academic and professional challenges that come their way during this crucial first year. Together, we're creating a supportive space where they can thrive!

As a mentor in the SACNAS Mentor Activation for Students (MAS) program, I focus on fostering meaningful relationships between students and mentors across various STEM fields. My goal is to enhance academic success and support long-term achievements through personalized one-on-one mentoring. By sharing my own experiences and insights, I help empower students at all academic levels to unlock their potential and pursue their goals in STEM. I’ve seen how transformative mentoring can be, leading to increased retention in STEM and inspiring historically underrepresented students to pursue graduate degrees. It’s rewarding to be part of a program that makes such a positive impact on the next generation of scientists!

As an Official UMMSM DOCS Translator at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to serve underserved communities across Broward, Miami-Dade, and the Florida Keys. Working with the student-run Department of Community Service (DOCS), I assist at health fairs, where I connect with a diverse range of patients, many of whom speak only Spanish.

In this role, I’ve been able to play a vital part in ensuring that these patients receive the care they need by bridging the language barrier alongside talented UM medical students, residents, and attending physicians. It’s incredibly fulfilling to help facilitate communication and support healthcare access for those who might otherwise struggle to benefit from the services offered. Being at the heart of this initiative allows me to contribute to our community’s health and well-being in a meaningful way!
